BACON, FREUD,
THE SCHOOL OF LONDON
TATE works

For the first time together in an exhibition in Italy, two giants of painting: Francis Bacon and Lucian Freud. Along with Bacon and Freud, Michael Andrews, Frank Auerbach, Leon Kossoff, and Paula Rego. One of the most fascinating, extensive and significant chapters of contemporary world art with the artists of the London School. An extraordinary city in a revolutionary period.

From September 26, 2019, to February 23, 2020, at the Chiostro del Bramante in Rome, over 7 decades of British art, with the greatest exponents of 20th-century painting: artists who have all received critical acclaim, and their presence in some of the most important collections in the world testify to the value of their respective productions.

Starting from the interpretation of the human figure and its own everyday context, these authors perceived, to then transmit, the fragility and vitality of the human condition, developing at the same time new styles and focuses, translating into art the essence of life itself and using a new language for its representation.

Educational offer dedicated to the exhibition “Bacon, Freud, The London School”.

The educational project of the Educational Department of the Chiostro del Bramante is aimed at schools of all levels. The visit to the exhibition, the encounter with the masterpieces from the Tate of London of revolutionary artists that have marked an era and inspired generations of artists, will be the pretext to stimulate curiosity, stimulate amazement and encourage discussion on strong emotional content and engaging suggested by the vision of the works.

The educational offer is divided into four different experiences, modulated by languages and contents and adapted to the different age groups.

THEATER GUIDED TOUR
dedicated to the nursery, primary and lower secondary schools.

A unique experience of knowledge and dialogue between the great masterpieces on display and the small visitors, who for the occasion will be accompanied by a special narrator: a very characteristic English character “played” by a professional actor.

An original Game Quiz will lead the participants to play among the rooms of the museum to reach a common goal, including mysteries to discover, characters to guess and places to visit.

An opportunity to understand that beauty is in diversity, to have a wider perception of the world around us and discover the uniqueness that belongs to every single person.

VISIT WITH ART HISTORY
dedicated to first and second-grade schools.

United by the importance accorded to the human figure, of which they explore form and fragility and to which they dedicate powerful representations, the artists of the London School write one of the most significant chapters of 20th-century art, in which painting bears witness to a personal, sensual and often violent life experience.

A guided tour conducted by an art historian to discover the masterpieces from the Tate of London, to talk about inspiration, subject, instrument, and obsession and learn about the anecdotes related to the artists and works of art present in the exhibition.

A visit to the exhibition accompanied by the story of the alien Globber, from the planet Globo, and by the guide Susanna to go to the discovery of the human being: a fascinating life form!

With the curiosity and wonder of Globber, small visitors will be able to discover different images and forms, through the suggestions given by the vision of the works of Francis Bacon, Lucian Freud and the other protagonists of the London art scene.

A multitude of moods, which are the true wealth conveyed by the Masterpieces on display, and which Globber can’t wait to let you try!

A special audio guide by Costantino d’Orazio: an author’s story of history, art, culture, and society, a journey through London in those years.

The narrator of the art historian and radio speaker, Costantino D’Orazio, will accompany the young visitors on an in-depth journey through London of that time, telling not only the artists and their life in a revolutionary period, but also the background of such a fascinating time.
